Day 29: Do you have a BDSM title (e.g. mistress, master, slut, pig, whore, princess, goddess, ma’am, sir)? What is your opinion of the use of titles in general?
I don’t generally use titles within BDSM. It feels unnatural with people I don’t know really well. But of course WYKIMNBMKBTO.
When I was taught about working towards being respected as a business manager, I was told that initially staff may give you various formal titles in person, and they probably even have an obligation to call you those titles in the workplace. But that’s not respect.
Later, they may call you by your first name, although again that might just be company policy.
However, working alongside people you’ve got to know well, and they spontaneously call you ’Boss’ as part of your work : that’s when you knew you’d earned their respect.
I did a very happy dance when this first happened 🙂
Very recently, a wonderful partner has begun calling me ‘Sir’ in the heat of the moment during our play. This hasn’t been requested or even discussed. However it’s a lovely word to hear over the raspy gasps of passion. Because I know them well, it certainly works for me 🙂
