Providing one of my regular therapeutic massage treatments last week : about 30 minutes in, I realised I wasn’t keeping track of time.
This was quite an informal treatment (friend of a friend introduction, not too clinical), so I paused the treatment briefly mid-point, found the clock in my bag, and then went back to the massage a few seconds later, apologising that ‘I just needed to get my clock out’.
She didn’t quite hear me, so I repeated slightly slower … ‘I just needed to get my clock out.’
She still didn’t get it.
‘My clock. I needed to get my clock out.’ I said again as slowly and clearly as I could.
After a long pause, finally she understood, to which her wonderful reply was:
“Well I wouldn’t have minded, but thought we should have discussed it first?”
