I was asked today “what sort of tying do you like to do?”
(by someone I’ve already met a few times at local rope social events, and who was therefore asking to be tied by me at a future rope event).
My answer, although not actually direct, seemed to cover it:
…It does seem to very much depend on the person, the environment, the aim of the rope / play, limits, etc..
I’m generally not a sadist myself, so I’m not normally focussed on causing pain for the sake of pain (although I have more recently discovered after years of deep tissue massage work in an asexual mindset, when it comes to play, there’s now a surprising overlap between the moan in response to pleasure, and the moan in response to certain types of pain).
I am however a very tactile person, so it’s good to know you’re also tactile.
Over the years I’ve taught myself to be very non-tactile with people I don’t know well, especially within my therapeutic massage work, so it’s good to know I can give you hugs, the occasional stroke of my fingertips when you’re bound by me, and such like 🙂
As for rope positions and function.. in general, I like things that are particularly secure (i.e. no chance of escape from), but at the same time in general, to be comfortable.
Of course I do also like to bind in some nice strict positions for short-term sensory enhancement, and because it can make great photos.
In general though, I prefer ties that are loose enough to be able to move a few inches in any direction (helps with maintaining circulation, less chance of damage, etc.), whilst at the same time, being completely unable to release yourself from it.
I guess I particularly enjoy binding someone, securely but comfortably, and then keeping them there for a while and watch them struggle as they’re unable to release themselves. Of course that is where crotch ropes come into their own 🙂
So hog-ties are often popular, as with frog-ties (particularly for private play), various ways of attaching people to things, etc..
I tend to like working with what’s available around me, that suits the environment, or some feature of the environment.. so if it’s a soft floor, there’d be more floor based stuff. If there’s attachment points on a wall, ceiling, etc.. then I’d probably look to utilise that. Or if the bondage was supposed to be mobile and being led around the club. Or if there was a certain space in which to utilise. Etc..
I’ve done various types of suspension before, but I’m not particularly focussed on doing that at this event with someone I don’t already know well.
Free form I guess is what tends to happen. Working with the person.. so if they’ve positioned themselves in a certain way just as we start, or some time before, that’s caught my eye (and then I’ll want to look at a way to expand upon that), or if I’ve just gained some sort of random inspiration that feels like it could work with you.
I generally don’t like using too much rope for the bondage element itself, just in case of needing a quick release. But then I’ve also done a lot of decorative stuff in the past too, just purely because it’s decorative!
So all in all, I don’t think that quite answers your question, but certainly gives you more of a background about me.
Ultimately, we can discuss some ground rules as such before, what you’d like to achieve yourself in the bondage, and then work out something accordingly!
